New “Welcome” sign

Today in Double Elephant to print a sign for the newly developed and re-designed entrance on Fielding Ward at Musgrove Park hospital in Taunton. I rolled the green to blue background straight onto the paper (I’d intended to print a graded colour but couldn’t find a plate large enough) then made a photo screen from plants and screen printed that onto the paper to give a soft mauve ‘ shadow’ background. Today I rolled greens out onto perspex plates and laid semi dry, flattened plant materials onto the plate and put them through the etching press to coat them with ink. These were then laid direct, ink down onto the paper with paper cut stencils for the lettering and butterflies and again through the press.
